Our Projects
Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB) Projects – Boston/Waltham, MA
MIW Corp is one of a small number of CHB approved vendors/subcontractors, which are able to work within the hospital. We take pride in being able to perform our work, what is generally a very dirty/smoky profession, within a clean room atmosphere. Our employees utilize “smoke eaters” with heap filtration technology in order to reduce the amount of particulate release into the air during welding, grinding and cutting operations. Our supervision team always communicates what areas we are working in and determines if there are air intakes, smoke detectors or heat detectors within the vicinity of our work. We are always prepared with the required safety measure (extinguishers, permits, fire watches) in place prior to working in such a delicate and sensitive area such as a hospital.
CHB OR Boom Replacement
This project consisted of the installation of (15) Operating Light/Medical Gas Booms within existing operating rooms under negative pressurization within a fully functional operating room suite. During each different situation we performed engineering calculations by a professional engineer liscensed in the state of Massachusetts in order to determine the proper size of the structure to withstand the loading and moment imposed on our steel.
CHB Autumn Street Canopy
In this project MIW Corp was retained to fabricate and install a canopy within an existing courtyard. As with all renovations or construction projects within an existing space, the walls and corner cannot be assumed to be square or true. In this particular case neither was true. While some walls were not plumb other corners were not square. Without the forward thinking of MIW’s supervision team and the construction managers team this canopy would not have been installed with as much ease. This canopy used innovative connection plates with a color galvanized finish to withstand the elements of the Northeast.

- CHB Cardio Renovations – Fabrication/installation of (2) Operating Light/Medical Gas booms.
- CHB Radiology #2 – Fabrication/installation of (1) Operating Light/Medical Gas boom.
- CHB Waltham OR Boom Supports – Fabrication/installation of (3) Operating Light/Medical Gas booms.
- CHB Linen Chute Repairs/Modifications – Various welding and modifications of existing linen chutes within CHB.
- CHB Cast Room Precast Support – Fabrication/installation of additional structural steel to support modified precast panels.
- CHB Pharmacy Interior AHU Support Framing – Fabrication/installation of ceiling hung AHU structural steel supports.
- CHB Cart Washer Infill - Fabrication/installation of angles and metal deck for concrete infills
- CHB Emergency Entrance Precast Support- Fabrication/installation of additional structural steel to support modified precast panels.
- CHB Hunnewell 5 Atrium Structural Support - Fabrication/installation of structural steel to support existing terracotta walls within an interior atrium in order to open up the entry.
- CHB 241 Kent Street – Fabrication/installation of exterior ramp and stair railings.
- CHB Emergency Generator - Fabrication/installation of galvanized metal grating platforms and stairs adjacent to the newly installed emergency generator adjacent to Feagan loading dock. In addition to the grating we also fabricated and install galvanized exhaust duct frames and support running up the exterior of the Feagan Building.
- CHB Nuclear Med Rooftop Mechanical Equipment Dunnage - Fabrication/installation of galvanized rooftop dunnage to support new mechanical equipment.
- CHB Enders 1st Floor Renovations - Fabrication/installation of an interior metal pan stair/railings and roof penetration in-fills.
- CHB Peabody Ambulatory Care Clinic - Fabrication/installation of the miscellaneous metal package.
- CHB Biomedical Engineering Dept - Fabrication/installation of the metal support framing for a hoist system.
- CHB Main 8 Renovations - Fabrication/installation of (3) Operating Light/Medical Gas booms.
